Let’s Go!
They completely missed it. Even though the scouting team from Israel had physically walked through the land of milk and honey that God had given them, even though they had carried back the large clusters of grapes, pomegranates, and figs, they didn’t believe that they would truly live in that city. Despite the fact that they had literally seen and tasted what God had in store for them, they missed His vision for their nation. All of them, that is, except for Caleb and Joshua. These two men saw God’s dream for their lives and believed it. Imagine what it must have been like trying to convince the rest of the nation to trust God’s direction. While everyone else talked about the “land that would devour” them and the “giants” who currently lived there, Caleb proclaimed, “Let’s go at once to take the land. We can certainly conquer it!” (Numbers 13:30). The question is, how often do we miss it? What vision does God have for us, for our church? Are we more like the scouts who looked at the obstacles before them, or like the two men who confessed their complete and utter commitment to God’s will for their lives? It is my prayer that we will see God’s vision clearly and have the faith to shout with Caleb, “Let’s go!”
- Take a few minutes to quiet your heart before God.
- Do you have any “grapes, pomegranates, or figs,” any evidence of God’s vision?
- Read Numbers 13:1-14:10. How did the people respond to Caleb and Joshua’s confidence in God? How did Caleb and Joshua respond to the people’s initial outbursts?
- Ask God to clearly reveal His vision for our lives. How does He want us to reach every man, woman, and child in Kosciusko County? How does He want you to be involved?
